It comes in several forms, from gentle retinyl esters to stronger retinol and retinal, and the skill lies in choosing the right one and building up slowly.

Introducing vitamin A

  • Start low and increase strength or frequency gradually.
  • Use it in the evening and wear SPF every morning.
  • Expect some dryness or flaking at first, and step back if skin feels sore.
  • Avoid strong acids on the same night while you adjust.
