Vitamin E

AboutVitamin E

Vitamin E is a group of oil-soluble antioxidants, usually listed as tocopherol or tocopheryl acetate. It helps protect the oils on skin's surface from environmental stress and has a softening, conditioning feel, which is why it's so common in moisturisers, cleansers and oils.

Why it's useful

  • Works well with vitamin C, helping both stay effective for longer
  • Helps dry skin feel soft and comfortable
  • Supports the skin barrier alongside ceramides and fatty acids
  • Helps stabilise the oils within a formula

Most skin types get on well with vitamin E, though very oily or congestion-prone skin may prefer it in lighter serums rather than rich oils. Environ uses it widely, including in the Skin EssentiA AVST moisturisers and Mild Cleansing Lotion, where it sits alongside vitamin A and other antioxidants.
